Abseits des schulischen Unterrichts brauchen türkische Kinder, die im Ausland leben, Gelegenheiten, ansprechende Texte in ihrer Muttersprache auf unterhaltsame Weise zu lesen. „Okumak Çok Güzel“ bietet genau das: Auf 80 Seiten finden sich abwechslungsreich gestaltete Geschichten und zusätzlich Aktivitäten (Malen, Rätsel), immer mit einem kulturellen Bezug zur Türkei. Die wunderschönen Illustrationen von Gül Çetin und die kurzweiligen Texte von Selma Otuk machen aus dem Buch ein kleines Kunstwerk. Beim gemeinsamen Blättern haben sowohl Kinder als Eltern eine große Freude an der kreativen Aufmachung. Für türkischsprachige Kinder, die in der Migration leben, gibt es wenig kinderleichte Lektüre, insofern ist das vorliegende Buch eine große Bereicherung des Angebotes. Die Geschichten sind unterhaltsam und lehrreich und ermöglichen es den Kindern, ihr Herkunftsland und dessen Alltagskultur besser kennen zu lernen .
